Our Story
Green Energy Services was founded in 2022 by Shane Woods — but the story goes back much further than that.
Shane originally trained in mechanical engineering in the UK before making the move to New Zealand over 30 years ago. He's been in the electrical industry since 2000 — also trained in refrigeration — and for the past 18 years has worked exclusively in renewable energy. The solar industry was still finding its feet in New Zealand when Shane started. He's watched it grow from a niche interest to a mainstream solution, and has been hands-on through every stage of that development.
Green Energy Services was founded to do things properly — no corners cut, no hard sell, no disappearing after the job is done. Since 2022, the team has completed over 600 installations across Canterbury, approximately 200 systems every year.
