What We Do

Solar Done Right — From Installation to Independence

Whether you're looking to cut your power bill, store your own energy, or live completely off-grid, we design and install systems built to perform for decades. Every job is handled personally by Shane — no subcontracting, no shortcuts.

Service 01

Grid-Tied Solar — Cut Your Power Bill in Half — or More

The average Canterbury household pays around $3,400 a year in power bills. Our customers typically bring that down to around $1,200. A well-designed grid-tied solar system is the fastest, most reliable way to reduce what you spend on electricity — and to protect yourself from future price increases.

We size every system to your actual usage, not just a standard package off a shelf. That means you get the right number of panels, the right inverter, and a system that genuinely performs for your home.

What's Included
  • Free assessment and system design tailored to your property and energy usage
  • Supply and installation of panels, inverter, and all associated wiring
  • Commissioning and testing — we don't leave until the system is running and verified
  • Explanation of how to monitor your system and get the most from it
  • Full compliance documentation
Starting from $6,000 includes 6 × 505W panels, 5kW inverter, and full installation

Low-interest green energy loans are available through ANZ, ASB, BNZ, Kiwibank, and Westpac.

Off-Grid Solar Systems — Complete Energy Independence, Done Properly

Living off-grid is genuinely achievable — but it demands a level of technical skill that most installers simply don't have. Sizing a battery bank correctly, designing for seasonal variation, integrating backup generation, and ensuring the system is reliable through a Canterbury winter: these aren't things you want to learn on the job.

Shane has extensive hands-on experience with every major off-grid platform available in New Zealand — SMA, Selectronic, Outback, Victron, Xantrex, and Schneider. He's one of a small number of installers in Canterbury with genuine off-grid expertise.

What's Included
  • Full off-grid system design — solar array, battery storage, backup generation
  • Load assessment to accurately size your system for year-round reliability
  • Supply and installation of all components
  • Commissioning and handover — so you understand exactly how to live with your system
  • Ongoing support — Shane is available when you need him
Starting from $10,000 larger systems sized to your load and site
"We are off-grid and discovered the hard way that experts in this field are few and far between. Not only have we found him to be absolutely knowledgeable, but also totally reliable and practical. He has become a favourite around our whole community."

Battery Storage — Use Your Own Power, Day and Night

Adding battery storage transforms what your solar system can do. Instead of selling excess energy back to the grid at a low rate, you store it and use it yourself — after dark, during peak times, or when the grid goes down.

Shane is a certified Sonnen installer and has hands-on experience across a wide range of battery platforms. He'll give you an honest assessment of whether battery storage stacks up for your specific situation — and if it does, which system will give you the best return.

What's Included
  • Assessment of whether battery storage is right for your home and usage patterns
  • Independent advice across multiple battery brands — not a one-brand pitch
  • Supply and installation by a certified battery storage installer
  • Integration with your existing or new solar system
  • Monitoring setup and handover
Starting from $4,500 can be added to a new system or retrofitted to an existing installation

Technical Support & System Optimisation

Not every solar installation is built to last. Shane regularly receives calls from homeowners whose systems are underperforming, throwing faults, or were installed incorrectly by a previous contractor. If that's you, he can help.

As one of the first Fronius Service Partners (FSP) in New Zealand — and with experience across virtually every inverter and battery brand on the market — Shane can diagnose, repair, and optimise systems that others have struggled with.

This Service Covers
  • Fault diagnosis and repair across all major inverter brands
  • System audits — checking your installation is safe, compliant, and performing as it should
  • Fronius-certified servicing and repair
  • Upgrades — adding battery storage, extra panels, or improved monitoring to an existing system
  • Honest advice — if something isn't worth repairing, we'll tell you
"Shane has been an absolute lifesaver. We had a so-called reputable installer attempt to install our system — after Shane came and literally re-did it for us, we've now had over a full year of trouble-free, reliable service."
